Activities

Use this activity to engage all types of learners, while requiring that they refer to and incorporate details from the text over the course of the activity.

“Camila’s NWSL Fantasy Draft”

In this activity, students will demonstrate their understanding of Camila’s character and the theme of Soccer as a Means of Advocating for Gender Equality by creating a fantasy team for Camila from NWSL players.

At the end of Furia, Camila finally achieves her dream of playing in the NWSL. When she was still in Rosario, she must have often thought about the other women who were able to play at this level. In this activity, you will show your understanding of Camila’s character and how important gender equity in soccer is to her by creating a NWSL fantasy league team for her.

Think About Who Camila Is

  • Use the text of Furia to make some notes about what Camila values in other people, what she values in soccer players, and what she believes about women’s equality.
  • Jot down your evidence so that you can use it in the next two parts of this activity.

Construct A Team

  • Do some online research into NWSL players, past and present. Your choices do not have to be active players.
